Palazzo de' Rossi is a 15th-century Italian medieval palazzo, and the heart of our celebration. Across its long history it has welcomed popes, poets, and ambassadors, witnessed historic events, and endured sieges — yet it has always been reborn.
Today it remains a living historic estate, where centuries of history, elegance, and human connection come together, and where we're so glad to celebrate this moment with you.
Destination
We're so happy to welcome you to our city — a place we know and love deeply. Bologna is Aurora's hometown, and sharing it with you as we celebrate our wedding means everything to us.
Bologna sits in the heart of northern Italy and goes by three affectionate names — La Dotta, La Grassa, e La Rossa: "the Learned," for being home to the oldest university in the Western world; "the Fat," for its extraordinary food; and "the Red," for its iconic terracotta rooftops.
Forbes has called it Italy's best foodie city — and here, food is everything. This is the birthplace of tagliatelle al ragù, tortellini, and mortadella.
Ferrari, Ducati, Maserati, and Lamborghini were all born just outside the city.
Bologna has more covered walkways than any city in the world — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — so you can stroll in any weather.
Bologna once had nearly 180 towers. About 20 remain, including the famous Asinelli and Garisenda, which still crown the skyline.
If you have a free afternoon, here's how we'd spend it.
Begin in Piazza Maggiore, the vibrant heart of the city. Visit the Basilica di San Petronio and the iconic Nettuno fountain.
Climb the Torre dell'Orologio in Piazza Maggiore for panoramic views across terracotta rooftops and historic palazzi.
Wander beneath Bologna's UNESCO porticoes and stop by the Due Torri, symbols of the city's medieval past.
Continue to the nearby Santo Stefano complex — the Sette Chiese — a cluster of interconnected buildings that feels more like a small medieval village than a church.
Visit the Archiginnasio, part of the University of Bologna, and explore the Anatomy Theater and the surrounding university quarter.
Explore the historic Quadrilatero market, full of artisan food shops and local specialties, then settle in for an aperitivo at any café — an Aperol Spritz or a glass of local Lambrusco.
End with the San Luca Express up into the hills for sunset at the Sanctuary of San Luca and sweeping views over the city.
Getting here
We recommend booking flights as early as possible to secure the best fares. Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ) is reachable from all major international airports with a single layover.
Flying into Bologna directly, we suggest ITA Airways (layover in Rome) or Swiss International Air Lines (layover in Zurich). We'd avoid connecting through London Heathrow or Paris Charles de Gaulle — both are very busy. From BLQ, the city center is a quick taxi or the Marconi Express shuttle train.
You can also fly into Milan, Venice, or Rome and take a high-speed train to Bologna Centrale:
We recommend staying in Bologna's historic center — the city is best experienced in its heart. It's compact and walkable, with sights, restaurants, and hotels all close by. The welcome party is in the center too, so staying central makes everything easy. The venue is about 30 minutes outside the city, and a shuttle will run from the center to the palazzo and back for all guests.

We recommend planning your stay between July 10 and July 12 to comfortably enjoy all the celebrations. More details and exact timings will follow closer to the date.
Most Italian historic centers, Bologna included, are limited-traffic zones (ZTL) and aren't accessible by car without a permit — so if you rent a car, please be mindful of restrictions and parking. You won't need one in Bologna; the city is easily explored on foot. For trips outside the center, book a taxi in advance or use the well-connected bus network.

High-speed Frecciarossa trains connect Bologna with major Italian cities quickly and comfortably — one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to reach the city, and to add a little travel around the country before or after the wedding.

Yes. A shuttle will run from Bologna's city center to Palazzo de' Rossi and back for all guests. It departs at 5:00 PM and returns at 1:00 AM.
The ceremony begins at 6:00 PM. Please plan to board the shuttle by 5:00 PM.
Yes — children are very welcome. We'd love to celebrate with your little ones. Please let us know they're coming when you share your details.
